The Garden Therapy Committee is made up of 13 members of the Hillsborough Garden Club: Carolyn Bass, Ann Burton, Joanne Chenette, Nancy Espersen, Kate Faherty, Pam Holloway, Sarah Meadows, Christina Nova, Mary Ann Peter, Linda Petrick, Carol Nobile, Ann Sebesan, and Sue Waters.
We typically meet with the participants at Soltys Adult Day Care on the 4th Thursday of the month (3rd Thursday in November and December due to the holidays) from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. During this time, we do a craft or an activity that involves up to 16 – 25 participants.
The crafts are kept simple so that there is more conversation and interaction and less frustration among those in attendance. We are sometimes presented with talented performances by the participants, such as piano playing and singing. We welcome these and other shared talents, as we have several retired school teachers on our team.
Twice a year (January and August) we deliver 2 flowering plants to the Durham VA Hospital.

Gardening simply does not allow one to be mentally old, because too many hopes and dreams are yet to be realized. — Allan Armitage
